NEW What?) Flintnapping Class  

Where?) at Cahokia Mounds, Collinsville, IL.  

When?) Saturday, January 14th, from noon til 4 PM  

What to bring?) Larry will furnish all materials, tools, safety equipment, and instruction (Students may supply their own, if they wish)   How much?) $30.00 per person ($25.00 for museum volunteers and/or students, with valid ID) All students must be 14 years old or older. All students should wear long pants, to prevent leg injuries. The fee should be paid directly to Larry Kinsella, immediately prior to the class. In order to keep the class to a manageable size, Larry has placed the minimum amount of students at 5 and the maximum at 25. Due to the demand for another class, we suggest you sign-up early.

Who to contact)  Contact Cahokia Mounds, at (618) 346-5160 and ask to be placed on the January 14th, flintknapping class roster. Be sure to leave your phone number so Larry can contact you in case of cancellation or emergency.

 Missouri's Archaeology Month Poster for 2008 

Larry made as many tools and points as he could from a single 14 lb. nodule of Crescent Quarry Burlington. The link is to Pete Bostrom's site with larger photo resolution and better photography. The poster was used for the back cover of the Spring 2009 edition of the Bulletin of Primitive Technology No. 37. There's also a short article, about the project, on page 80.

  Larry won the 2008 Gregory Perino Memorial Award, at the Collinsville Artifact Show. It was given by the Illinois State Archaeological Society for the best presentation on experimental archaeology.
